My mother gave me this quixotic pitcher. Its for orange juice so you think it would be designed to look like an orange. Actually, it’s a pumpkin. It was a promotion for Dunkin Doughnuts one halloween and filled up with their “Munchkins” aka doughnut holes.
Its really a handsome piece, nicely designed, with a proportional handel and spout to look like a stem and leaves.
Its it nostalgia? I’m thinking about all the things my mother and father gave me. Things that are beautiful and decorative and things that are utilitarian meant to prepare me for the world of entertaining. I think about their generosity and how often they must have thought it would be perfect for our son.
